Thomas Markle released to house arrest after child-abuse-image charge
Thomas Markle Sr, the estranged father of the Duchess of Sussex, has been charged in Florida with one count of possessing child sexual abuse material and released on bond under house arrest.
Federal agents arrested the 82-year-old at a care home in Lakeland after material was allegedly found in two Los Angeles storage units he had rented for nearly two decades. He did not enter a plea at his initial hearing and denies wrongdoing.
Court filings cited film negatives and books recovered by investigators. The allegations remain unproven and will be tested through the judicial process.
A person described as a friend of Meghan said the duchess hoped for a full investigation and justice for any victims. Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been approached for comment.
