Morrison says West Brom recovered after pressure from successive derby losses
West Bromwich Albion head coach James Morrison says consecutive Championship defeats by Wolves and Birmingham put him under pressure before his side began its current unbeaten run.
Albion then trailed at Wrexham and faced a possible third straight league loss, but recovered to win and had not been beaten since. Ahead of Millwall’s visit, the team was aiming to extend its unbeaten sequence to six matches before the international break.
Morrison said the squad regrouped after the Birmingham defeat and had collected 11 points in the latest block of fixtures, compared with 14 in the previous block. He credited the players’ persistence and work for the improvement.
The former Albion midfielder welcomed positive feedback from supporters but cautioned that only 14 league matches had been played and that the Championship table remained tightly congested.
