Frühere Fleetwood-Mac-Sängerin Christine McVie ist tot
Die frühere Sängerin und Keyboarderin der britisch-amerikanischen Rockband Fleetwood Mac, Christine McVie, ist tot. Sie starb im Alter von 79 Jahren nach "kurzer Krankheit" in einem Krankenhaus, wie ihre Familie am Mittwoch mitteilte. Die Band bestätigte McVies Tod: "Sie war die beste Musikerin, die man in seiner Band haben konnte, und die beste Freundin, die man in seinem Leben haben konnte."
McVie hatte sich Fleetwood Mac im Jahr 1970 offiziell angeschlossen - zwei Jahre nach ihrer Hochzeit mit dem Bassisten der Band, John McVie, und nachdem sie bereits beim Studioalbum "Mr. Wonderful" mitgewirkt hatte. Sie sang für die Band, spielte Keyboard und schrieb auch Songs. Ihr größter Hit war "Don't Stop" auf dem Album "Rumours" aus dem Jahr 1977, für das sie unter anderem auch die Lieder "Songbird" und "You Make Loving Fun" schrieb.
Die 1943 in Großbritannien geborene Musikerin hatte vor ihrer Zeit bei Fleetwood Mac für die Bluesband Chicken Shack gespielt. Neben ihren Alben mit Fleetwood Mac veröffentlichte sie auch mehrere eigene Platten. 1998 wurde McVie zusammen mit den anderen Mitgliedern der Band in die Rock & Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen.
