Stark-Watzinger: Corona-Tests an Schulen nur bei Symptomen
Bundesbildungsministerin Bettina Stark-Watzinger (FDP) hat sich gegen regelmäßige Corona-Tests an Schulen ausgesprochen. "Ich halte ein anlassloses Massentesten nicht für sinnvoll - gerade bei Omikron", sagte sie den Zeitungen der Funke-Mediengruppe vom Samstag. "Wenn testen, dann gezielt und anlassbezogen - also nur dann, wenn ein Kind die entsprechenden Symptome zeigt."
Die Ministerin machte zudem deutlich, dass sie Corona-Schutzmasken im Klassenzimmer nicht für erforderlich hält, so lange die Omikron-Variante das Infektionsgeschehen dominiert. "Die Maske ist an das harte Kriterium gebunden, dass der Präsenzunterricht gefährdet wäre", sagte Stark-Watzinger. "Die Länder sollten mit diesem Instrument daher sehr zurückhaltend sein." Sie erwarte, "dass es bei der Omikron-Variante gar nicht zum Tragen kommen muss".
Die FDP-Politikerin nannte zwei Kriterien für das Maskentragen: "Das Virus löst schwerere Krankheitsverläufe aus, und es gefährdet den Präsenzunterricht." Erst dann halte sie die Maske im Klassenzimmer für gerechtfertigt.
Die Bildungsministerin stellte sich hinter die Empfehlung der Ständigen Impfkommission (Stiko), auch fünf- bis elfjährige Kinder zu impfen. "Ich unterstütze die Empfehlung und setze mich auch für niedrigschwellige Impfangebote an den Schulen ein", sagte sie. "Kinder gegen Corona zu impfen, bleibt aber natürlich eine persönliche Entscheidung."
