Klimaaktivisten färben Wasser in berühmtem römischen Brunnen schwarz
Klimaaktivisten haben in Rom das Wasser eines berühmten Barock- Brunnens am Fuße der Spanischen Treppe schwarz gefärbt. Drei Aktivisten der Letzten Generation kippten am Samstag in der italienischen Hauptstadt eine pflanzliche Flüssigkeit in den Barkassenbrunnen aus dem 17. Jahrhundert. Sie wurden anschließend von der Polizei abgeführt.
Die Protestaktion sollte nach Angaben der Aktivisten an das "Weltuntergangsszenario" erinnern. Auf dieses steuere die Menschheit zu, "während wir alle weiter aufs Gaspedal drücken: Dürren wechseln sich mit verheerenden Fluten ab, die dem Leben auf der Erde ein Ende setzen, dazu Hitzewellen".
Die Einwohner Roms kennen den bootförmigen Brunnen des Bildhauers Pietro Bernini aus dem 17. Jahrhundert als "Barcaccia". Nach Angaben der Aktivisten ist sein Bau von einer Volkslegende inspiriert. Demnach soll im Jahr 1598 der Tiber so überflutet gewesen sein, dass er ein Boot auf dem Platz anspülte.
Der geschwärzte Brunnen in Italien ist Teil einer Serie von Aufsehen erregenden Protestaktionen in ganz Europa, mit denen die Letzte Generation auf den Klimanotstand aufmerksam machen und Politiker zum schnelleren Handeln bringen will. Zuvor hatten die Aktivisten bereits zahlreiche andere Kunstwerke und Kulturstätten mit Farbe, Kartoffelbrei oder Suppe attackiert. Zudem kleben sich Mitglieder der Gruppe immer wieder auf Straßen fest und sorgen so für massive Verkehrsbehinderungen.
