Zverev mühelos ins Viertelfinale von Miami
Tennis-Olympiasieger Alexander Zverev hat überzeugend das Viertelfinale beim ATP-Masters in Miami erreicht. Der an Position vier gesetzte Hamburger gewann sein Achtelfinale gegen den Russen Karen Chatschanow ohne Probleme und in etwas mehr als einer Stunde Spielzeit 6:1, 6:4 und zog zum vierten Mal in seiner Karriere in Miami in die Runde der letzten Acht ein.
Dort bekommt es der 26-Jährige mit dem ungesetzten Ungarn Fabian Marozsan zu tun. Im Halbfinale könnte ein erneutes Duell mit dem spanischen Wimbledonsieger Carlos Alcaraz warten. Zverev präsentiert sich in Florida in starker Verfassung, der Miami-Finalist von 2018 ließ Chatschanow in einer Neuauflage des Olympia-Endspiels von Tokio 2021 keinerlei Chance. Nach nur 27 Minuten schnappte sich Zverev den ersten Satz. Im zweiten Durchgang breakte die Deutsche Nummer eins den Russen früh und nutzte wenig später seinen ersten Matchball zum Sieg.
Nach seinem Viertelfinal-Einzug in Indian Wells vor einer Woche ist Zverev erstmals seit seiner schweren Knöchelverletzung bei den French Open 2022 zurück in den Top 5 der Weltrangliste. Vor einem Jahr war der Hamburger in Miami noch an seiner Auftakthürde gescheitert.
