Saudi customs seize 1.95 million amphetamine pills in lentil shipment
Saudi customs officers discovered 1,950,581 amphetamine pills concealed in a truck carrying lentils at the Al-Haditha border crossing.
Saudi customs authorities have stopped an attempt to smuggle 1,950,581 amphetamine pills into the kingdom through the Al-Haditha border crossing. The drugs were concealed in a shipment declared as lentils aboard an incoming truck.
Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority spokesman Hamoud Al-Harbi said officers found the pills after customs procedures and an inspection using security technology and detection methods.
Al-Harbi said ZATCA was strengthening controls over imports and exports at all entry points and working with the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to prevent drug and contraband smuggling.
The authority asked the public to report suspected smuggling through its designated security channels. It said reports are treated confidentially and accurate information may qualify for a financial reward.
